World War II Memorial

This week some of the brave Veterans who served in WorId War II, and the Korean, Vietnam, and Gulf Wars who are residents of South Boston were invited to travel together to visit the monuments in Washington, D.C., that commemorate their service.

Our nation’s capital is home to unique and powerful monuments that honor courage, risk and sacrifice in times of war. A call has gone out to the public to help finance this once-in-a-lifetime trip for those who experienced our 20th-century armed conflicts first-hand.

The plan is to provide an all-expense-paid three-day trip for these veterans. The committee putting this adventure together hopes to raise $30,000, and they’re asking that the public consider contributing online or through the mail by sending a check made out to The Veterans Express II, c/o Eastern Bank, 470 West Broadway, South Boston, MA 02127. Any little bit helps!

Please join us in wishing these heroes an amazing trip to D.C. and our never-ending appreciation and gratitude for their service.
