Catch “Boston Kids Really Rock,” a book and bib drive to benefit Room to Grow, at the Lawn on D on Saturday, September 26th. It’s a kid-centered all-day festival featuring food trucks, hands-on art projects and performances galore. The music line-up includes 12 performers on two stages, while kids’ activities range from bookmaking to a percussion playground to a rest-and-read station.
If you can, please do bring a board book or bib to the festival to donate to Room to Grow, a non-profit organization that responds to the fact that children born into poverty are more likely to enter school behind others, which leads to an educational achievement gap that is hard to overcome, and unjust. The Boston chapter serves approximately 400 babies in our region. Over the course of three years, mothers and fathers receive parenting support and education, referrals to local resources, and high-quality books, toys and clothing, thus helping these children build a solid foundation that will bring increased opportunities for success in school and beyond.
