The Fall Harvest Season is just around the corner. While it’s possible – and enjoyable – to visit various farms and orchards, why not take advantage of the fact that local growers are represented in abundance at the South Boston Farmers Market?! By going to just one site, you’ll have your pick of a great variety of fruits and vegetables, and even meats, baked goods, plants and more.
The South Boston Farmers Market takes place on Monday afternoons through October 26th at 446 W. Broadway. Stop by between noon and 6:00 pm to purchase luscious tomatoes, blueberries, corn and other produce, as well as fish, eggs and flowers, too.
This season you’ll find Freitas Farm, Wengers Farm and Red’s Best represented each week. The first Monday of every month, musicians are present, adding to the ambiance. On various Farmers Market days throughout the summer and early fall, the Bicyclists Union offers free bike tune ups, UMass Extension Nutritional Program gives out healthy food samples and recipes, and some South Boston non-profit organizations set up information and display tables.
